More than 300 surplus movie, TV vehicles set for online auction
Even if your personal movie-star career hasn’t taken off, there is a way to own a piece of Hollywood and drive it every day. More than 300 cars, trucks, motorcycles and specialty vehicles that have appeared in movies, TV shows and commercials will be auctioned in online bidding April 20-27 as Picture Car Warehouse sells off some of its no-longer-needed inventory.
The selection of vehicles, which includes vintage cars, hot rods and customs, will be auctioned by Tiger Group, which conducts online bidding for a wide-range of commercial auctions, from jewelry and camera equipment to entire buildings.
Picture Car Warehouse is in the business of providing vehicles for the film and TV industry, and the vehicles offered for sale have been in dozens of well-known movies and television shows, such as Rush Hour 3, Bucket List, Men in Black 3, X-Men: First Class, The Town, Sons of Anarchy, Entourage and Taxi. Some have appeared in commercials, including those for Allstate insurance and Chevrolet.
“As Picture Car Warehouse makes room for new acquisitions, individuals, collectors and production companies can take advantage of this unique opportunity to purchase these exceptional vehicles associated with movies and other productions,” Jeff Tanenbaum, president of Tiger Group’s Commercial & Industrial division, said in a news release.
“It’s also a rare opportunity for the general public to purchase a car from their favorite movie or show.”
Included among the vehicles at auction are Ford, Chevy and Dodge trucks from the 1940s, a 1956 DeSoto, a 1965 Harley-Davidson Chopper, a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1967 Chevelle SS that has undergone a frame-off restoration, a 1990 ZR-1 Corvette with 75 original miles, and various Camaros, Mustangs and Firebirds, and Harley, Suzuki and Kawasaki motorcycles.
There are a number of Ford Crown Victoria sedans, Chevy Impala SS clones, VW Rabbit convertibles, AMC Gremlins and a Hummer H2. Some of the specialty vehicles include a 1961 Lincoln “Bud Light” limo, a 1963 “Madmen” John Deere mower, Unimogs, camera cars, ambulances, armored cars, news vans, pickup trucks, a 2002 Gem Truckster and various custom motorcycles.
The online auction begins April 20 with bidding on each item closing in live-auction style April 27 at 10:30 a.m. PST on the website www.SoldTiger.com. Bidders are required to register on the site prior to the sale. A preview of the vehicles will be held April 26 at two California locations.
